    Default DIY Tig Electrode sharpener

Here is a sharpener I made for the tig electrodes. It’s a HF trim router with a 2” sandinh disc. Works great, sharpening at the 6 and 12 oclock positions cuts straight lines on the electrode. check out youtube video

I like that setup! I need to get away from using my angle grinder! Did you have to do anything for the sanding disk to fit the router?

No the router and the disc shaft are both 1/4" I used 120 grit. Its a roloc 3m disc.
The base is a 1/4" plate with a "U" shaped clamp to hold the router it has a small on/off switch in it's end.
The electrode holder has different size holes for different size electrodes.

Sharpening the tungsten eats the grinding wheel pretty fast for me (compared to how steel would have). How is the sanding disk holding up? Some people talk about using a diamond blade.

I have not had to replace the disc yet and I think it will hold up for a good amount of time.
I did try a dimond blade but the grit was too rough and ate the tungston up to quickly. I'm sure finer grit is out there but I wanted a smaller diameter to be able to do shorter electrodes.
