Project 2 from Trip - Peterbilt front frame repair (re-run)
Small repair that led to big future projects. This repair and the custom fab at the end scored me a nice 125ft Ar bottle in trade.
Bracket on the front end, the struts to support the hood bolt to these:
Driver side, non broken;
Passenger side, had 1/8" left, another trip and I'd have had to fab a new tab.
Took the piece off, ground, sanded and beveled
Grounded it to a big steel stake in the ground, thus the cables
Didn't dress it down, nice clean, no undercut, no crap, nice solid repair. Next time, I wouldn't run it with my MIG, took a bit of doing, but with the V, I was able to get it rolling with a nice keyhole and set good penetration. It isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I was lucky enough to get to do this in the middle of a bumper swap.
Next project is to make one of these out of stainless, the steel ones rust out horribly, this one could serve as a collander
