Thread: Ready to Buy a PowerTig 185

Default Ready to Buy a PowerTig 185

Well, I have decided it is time to add a 185 to the race trailer so I can fix or tweak my bike. I've added quite a bit of welded components over teh past few weeks and, while I hope they all work, can envision a need to tweak something or add a brace, etc. I would much rather be able to fix it at the track then can teh whole weekend and trip. (235 miles trip towing a trailer along with race entry and fuel, etc isn't exactly cheap)

I currently have a 200DX (2011, old style with the additional max output pot on the pedal) and have had no issues with it at all, it is just a little bulky to put in the trailer as compared to a 185 and it is already positioned in my garage on a cart.

Hopefully having the green welder in the trailer helps me get into teh 7.50's range at 195+ mph

I will be calling to purchase this week, but woudl like to ave a few things in order prior to calling:

Dual Voltage: Are all 185's now dual Voltage by default?
Foot Pedal: Is the pedal still an option?
Foot Pedal: What resistance is the Pot in the pedal? 22K?
Foot Pedal: Is the operation of the pedal Max Ohm = Zero Output, 0 Ohm = Max output?
Torch: What torch is included with the 185?
Torch Connections: Are the Dinse connections of the torch and ground compatible with a older 200DX (2011, old style with the additional max output pot on the pedal)
Torch / Ground: What are the lengths or each?

Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.

Also, is there an SSC pedal available for the 185? If not, I can probably call them and get one.

Are the pedal electrical connectors available from Everlast or elsewhere?

Great list of questions. As a part b to the first question about dual voltage, does it come wired with NEMA 6-50 plug and include a NEMA 5-15 adapter as shown in some of the factory pics for other models?

Just trying to shorten the call length as I will be calling during a free minute at work.

And these are somewhat basic questions that would help a lot of other people. Many of which should be answerable from either the sales literature or manual.

I talked with Oleg, but haven't finished the deal yet as I was away racing.

Dual voltage is still an additional option
Foot pedal is not included and is an additional option
SSC pedal was not currently available, but may be.
Dinse connectors are smaller than the 200DX
Not sure on length of the leads.
Torch should be a 17 series.
