250 ex

Well I did it. Today I went and dropped my hard earned on a brand spanky new 250 EX and cooler. The folks I dealt with are from the Canadian main dealership in Burlington Ontario. These are nice people ! I was treated like one of the family from the get go. When I came in the Boss ( that would be the MRS ) brought me right in to the back of the shop to meet the owner Duncan. We spent a fair bit of time discussing the units and possible options. Now I have to tell you I am a country boy and I was expecting a city attitude. Boy was I surprised. I have been reading on the forum about long waits for stock. Well you fellows need to come north of the border because this is a well equiped dealer.
Everything is still in the box so I won't get things together until the weekend. But if the equipment performs like the service I received then I should be one happy welder.
You know I did have one complaint though. I had to comment on how bright green these machines are. I told the Everlast folks that I don't know how the heck I will be able to hide this stuff from the wife !

Yes, I guess going north is where to find the welders.

We here in Alaska are also full stocked up.

Did all my business with Duncan, always a pleasure, he has always treated me very good. Everlast had Good people to do business with North or South.

Duncan and Jean are good people. They run a class business there in Canada. Ray over in Alaska does the same. Really depends on where you live as to who you deal with. All our dealers I have met are top of the line.

Hi Mike,
I have to disagree. So far everyone that I have spoke to at Everlast have been super. When I first started looking at your products I called the San Fran Office and with in a half hour I had someone call me back. Those are the things that really helped to sell me on buying your product. Don't want to put the horse before the cart though, I still haven't fired this bad boy up yet. This weekend is the inaugural. Really looking forward to it.

I suggest purchasing the DVD set from Welding Tips and Tricks. I think they are about $9 ea DVD shipped and there are two or possibly three in the set by now.

I have the first two. In addition to providing good general information on various types of welding, Jody Collier demonstrates how to set all of the multitude of tig welding controls and explains what they are for. As luck would have it the machine he uses for the demo is the exact machine you have just purchased.

I watched his DVD then set my new machine for it's first usage on aluminum. I was able to run a nice bead straight off using his suggested settings. The info he provides will get you pointed in the right direction and is well worth the price of the DVD set.

So far so good. I finally have had a chance to get some good seat time. Had a chance to play around with some mild steel 1/8 and 1/4 inch. Had a chance to mess around with the different functions. This is a great mahine. I spent some time with the factory stinger before switching to a WP20. The flex head and smaller size fits better in my hand and is alot less tiring to use. I picked up some end cuts of 6061 aluminum from a buddy who gave me a hand full of 5356 1/8 rod to try out. This was my first experience with aluminum. I was a little nervous at first but once I dialed in on it I was having a lot of fun. I have attached a picture of my first butt joint. Still have a long way to go but the more seat time I get the more confident I am feeling.

It's been a lot of fun so far, thanks to everyone at Everlast for your time and for putting out such a great product.

Not sure why, but I can not zoom the picture. What resolution was it taken at? If I squint my eyes, it look good in the 3/4' x 1' box :)

The WP-20 will not wear your wrist out like the WP18, that's for sure.
