Newbie on the TIG world

Hi My nick name is Aspen, I'm from Puerto Rico but living in Los Lunas, New Mexico and yes it is in the USA between TEXAS and ARIZONA

I just order this past thursdays a Power Tig 200DX.

I did use a TIG welder on aluminum 5 years ago on a project and since then I fall in love with the way it look and the result. The only problem is that it was not me the one that set the machine back them, so let see how it goes, me doing all the setting.

I fly Powered Paraglider and the frame is made out of round aluminum tube. My frame had a dent that I'm planing to fix after I fill comfortable with the machine.

Welcome aboard.

We have some welding talent here to get you going if you need it.

On a side note, I weld a lot of things (bikes, trailers and lifted things), but I can say nothing I fly in. Not big on heights myself. Make sure you jump up and down on it a bunch of time before you take it up.

Hi Aspen glad to have you here. I have a powermaster 205 tig combo unit and like it a lot. I wish I had more things to weld but it's great fun anyway. Would like to see some pictures of your flying project!

By all means do plenty of welding before you attempt to repair any structure that may risk your life. As any qualified welder will tell you it is more than good looks to a safe weld. You may want to check to see if you need to be certified to make any repairs to your craft. This may affect the resale as well. I am not trying to bust your chops but as a past certified parachutist I know a little something about free falling from the sky and when it comes right down to it the only thing that matters is how you land! Happy flying. Any pictures of your bird?

Thanks WAYNESWORLD for the advice, This is not mine but, below you'll see a picture from another site, you'll see what I'm talking about.

My dent is on that outer aluminum ring. It's more esthetic than anything else. But again not until I fill comfortable with my skill welding aluminum i'm not planing in try this.

Lots of fun, all I can assure you is too addictive. Give it a try and you will see what I'm talking about....

My wife would not be a problem. More than 15' off the ground on a ladder, I make the kids handle it. If there's a problem with something more than 15' off the ground here, one of the kids broke it anyway.

I have no problems with airplanes, esp. when going to the Bahamas.

Still looks a little small for me personally.

I've had two rides in a two seat helicopter that did not bother me after the takeoff and 5 minutes in the air. But I had a shell around me, I had to hang out and take pictures too. I helped the guy roll it to the runway and was thinking, if I can lift this, should I fly in it?

I receive today my new Power Tig 200DX.

Also I got an account with Airgas after reading Mike R. Post. So finally I think I have everything to begin burning metal around the house. LOL LOL LOL LOL
