Hey! I played with similar pentagraphs when I was a kid. Would have been nice if he could pick up the cutter from where he is on the original.
Would have also thought he'd use bigger gauge metal for the linkages but it seems to working just fine for him. If anyone is unfamiliar with the layout of a pentagraph, wikipedia comes to the rescue again!

I want to make one but bigger with to bench's to do letters and stuff. the roller wheels support the arms
There are quite a few router pentagraphs out there for woodworking. I even saw someone selling plans to make a wooden one for a router. Here's the link if you want to get some ideas:

Looked beefy enough that you could lift the router from the tracing arm. something like that could be easily adapted to what you are looking for. No doubt, you will come up with either an elegant home-brewed solution or something off of eBay!
Oh, don't forget, Rod, to add in the capability to size up or size down from the original. Just need to have the ability to adjust where the pivot points are. You'd probably want that capability.
Everlast need to get in to cnc plasma stuff check out china is so much cheaper on cnc plasma tables .http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/42...me_Plasma.html
I looked into the single arm style manipulators a few years ago. The Steel Tailor (looks the same as the one in your link was one option (Chinese) and I also had a Bug-O rep in with what they call a "shape machine".

they are sort of crude, but the cut quality was pretty good.
Thanks for the reminder. I may look into building one of teh cantilever style torch manipulators. Can be very compact and pretty darn simple to make. My buddy and I have a sort of "joint venture" into a CNC control system (I bought all of the parts years ago, and he "borrowed" them and made a small wood router). Might have to make a cantilever manipulator and plug the box in and get it up and running. Probably less than $500 to get it going.
Here is the info on the Steel Tailor.

Damn...1 more thing to design and build now...
just ordered the angel iron with holes from McMaster-Carr to make one of these i am using 6 foot pieces to do bigger stuff and change ratio's to what size i want to cut http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/118/3658/=hkd8bo
rite now trying to clear a spot to make room for the 2 tables . I have to much crap in my shop lol going to make one table out of wood for tracing since then can tack the drawings on or pieces i am tracing and anther table out of steel that plasma will be cutting on
I am mounting a off and on switch on the tracing end so i can turn it off and on so don't half to lift or could use a foot pedal off and on switch the plasma head would have a spacing cup to keep the rite cutting height
