185 Voltages (also PP50 question on Voltages)

I have been seeing dual voltage advertised for the 185 micro as well as the pp50.

Some folks seem to have dual voltage and some do not. Is this an option for these units or is it "random" as to getting dual voltage or not.

I previously didn't know the pp50 was available as dual voltage (and perhaps it is not).

I am on the fence as to what to buy next (185 or pp50). Dual voltage woudl make for a much nicer option to use at the track, even if it has greatly reduced duty cycle and power output.We push everything else on performance, might as well push the welders as well. I personally don't have a generator big enough to run either of them, but there are certainly folks at the track that do and wouldn't mind using.

The 120V option would be best I think for small repairs since it seems there are 50 different types of 220/240V receptacles on generators, but 110/120 seems to always be "standard".

This is primarily geared toward the 185 tig, but if available, the plasma may not be a bad option either for the occasional remote sheet metal cutting job.

got my 185 micro couple weeks ago from amazon 818shipped to my door! mine is dual voltage and everything good so far...just upgraded to ck9 torch w/superflex.

I'm just a hobbyist (for now) and am a beginner to be sure but I absolutely love having dual voltage. With the exception of the unusual (and somewhat rare) 20A 120V plugs, you are absolutely correct, at least with 120V, you don't have a billion different plugs to contend with. I haven't done any aluminum yet and nothing very thick but everything I have done has been with 120V which has been super convenient.

I've seen a bunch of threads from other people on other forums with the PowerTIG 185 and they've been very impressed with this machine.

Officially, from what I have seen, the PowerTIG 185 has dual voltage as an option although if Amazon, eBay, etc, say it is dual voltage in the listing, the option is probably included as standard.
