Change Foot Pedal Range?

I have a Power i-Tig 200T. Overall I am happy with the welder. I weld tubing at 15-25 amp most of the time. I am using a foot pedal (47K). I have the up and down slope set to 0. I put the start amps at 8 and the end amps at 2(min). I set the peak amps to 30. My problem is being able to control the amps with the foot pedal. With the peak amps limited to 30 I only have to press the foot pedal a little way down to hit 30 so the working range of 15-30 amps does not require much movement of the pedal. I would like to have better control of the 30amp range using the pedal.

Is there a way to modify the pedal so I have 75 or 100 amps over the entire travel of the foot pedal instead of 200 amps?

Hmmm. That's not what should happen, at least from my testing of a preproduction model, unless they made some changes in programming. Double check you have the NEW style 47-50 k pedal. And make sure the gear is properly timed. It could be the rack is rolled too far on the potentiometer in the pedal.

Mark what do you mean by changes in programming?

As it is now if I set my peak amps at 200 or 30 amps it does not matter it takes the same amount of foot pedal travel to get to 30 amps. I do not think the gear has slipped or moved I can get the amps down to at least 10 amps with the pedal and up to 200 with the pedal full pressed if the limit is set that high. The foot pedal has a sticker on the pedal that says FT-47K-CL.

You should be able to get it down to 2 or 3 amps.

I set my start amps to the minimum of 5 amps and it will start and I can use the pedal down to 2 amps and maintain a stable arc. I also turned my peak amps up to 100 when the pedal is pushed down it gradually goes up and hits 100 amps with the pedal pressed down about half way. Pushing the pedal down the rest of the way the amps stay at 100.

I checked the pot with my multimeter. Pins 1 and 2 are the micros switch, pins 3,4 and 5 seem to go to the pot. Below is what I measured between each pin.

Pins 3-5 47.5K with the pedal up or down no change.
Pins 3-4 .4 with the pedal up and 47.5 with the pedal down.
Pins 4-5 47.5K with the pedal up and 1.1 with the pedal down.
