SuperCut 51P adapting AG60 Connector

Very happy with my 51P, but I'm trying to adapt an AG60 torch I have so I can use it as a back up.

The 51P manual says the connector is 16mm, but that can't be right because a 1/4 air hose connector screws onto it just fine (as a thread and size experiment).
The 3rd party torch female connector is approx. 5/8" diameter, which I think is 16mx1.5 but I'm not 100% sure.
The 3rd party torch female connector swallows the connector on the 51P. (in other words: no thread grip)
So how do I get these two pieces of equipment connected?

A lot of these are variations of BSP. Bust out the calipers and a thread pitch gauge then look up the thread charts to figure out what you have and what you need. If the adapter is not common, you might need to make your own, either cut it on a lathe, or braze two fittings together. Two good sources are Mc Master Carr, and Maryland Metrics. They both have a ton of specialty fittings. Another option is to change the hose. You might get a match at the torch end instead of the machine end. 3/8"-24 is often used there, even if the machine end is M16*1.5

The machine connection, despite what the manual specs say, almost perfectly fits a 1/4" brass air hose connection, and the torch connector is M16.
So I guess I'm looking for something to mate them (1/4 female & M16 male).
I'll check out McMaster and Maryland Metrics.

Think of BSP as pipe thread with no taper.

Isn't this the same one? If not, then why? What are the technical differences?

What does one do when one cuts or burns through the air hose by mistake?
(I haven't done that; I just purchased the 51P a couple weeks ago, but I want to have a backup torch ready to go)

So... why is the word from Everlast that one must not obtain torches unless they are 'calibrated'?
Sounds silly.

Page 9 of the manual clearly says:
- OEM quality consumables can be purchased direct through Everlast or other online sources of the AG-60 torch.

And by the way, all my headaches (and a week researching this) could have been avoided if the manual had correctly stated the torch fitting size on the machine, and not, erranty, 16mm.
I purchased both the 51P and the backup torch at the same time (backup torch via ebay) after researching dedicated plasma cutters in my price range (read: low cost).

So, if the manual, that I read twice before purchase, had stated that the connection was a 1/4 x 19 BSP (as I now am 99% certain of, but need confirmation) I would have purchased the correct torch/fitting in the first place.

And while I'm ranting... (off topic) what's up with the silly 4 foot anemic work clamp cable included with the unit?

Nobody has deleted anything. It's not wrong to point to ebay. You may have had an issue with posting...not sure.

If you read the manual: Specifications are subject to change without notice. And we have free tech support you could have consulted before stepping out on your own and assuming no changes. For what it is worth, you won't find size descriptions for other brands of plasma cutters on their fittings at all.

We do sell replacement torches for that machine. All the heartache could have been avoided if you had purchased one directly through us with the correct fitting for your model.

The quote mentions consumables, not whole torches themselves. As there are differences in the torch construction from the fitting sizes, to the hose diameter and length that have to be properly adjusted for the plasma cutter to work correctly with the pilot arc as far as timing etc. Different manufacturers make this torch. Each one is slightly different, even though the consumables interchange. Our units are designed to work with the brand and type of our torches that are intended for that machine.

As far as the anemic looking work clamp...

The unit is only 50 amps. The work clamp is well sized for that. No need to have a 300 amp clamp. But for a reference point, go look at a Miller. No heavier.

But you pay heavier, a lot heavier.

And I said nothing about calibrating the units individually to the individual torch. Or calibrating the torch to the unit. Please read. I am talking about general design specifications that the units are designed around.

work clamp: I was referencing the length; 12' torch and 4' clamp. Not like my other Everlast.

I'm still looking for the dimensions of the machine connector, which so far has not been forthcoming, although I have learned a lot of other information along the way.

Is it 1/4 x 19 ?

If not, what is it?

I don't have that info. You need to talk with tech support @ ext 207.

There are typically two sizes. 16mmx 1.5 and 14 x1.5 mm and 14 x 1mm. And a few other sizes, including a 9/16 unf thread but these are the most common metric plasma torch sizes you'll find.

But there are quite literally hundreds of chinese sources/factories on this torch and many variations with many quality levels and different tunings.
