Man, that's awesome. Is there any way one could procure an image of said welder? Nevermind I found it. I'm really kicking myself right now. But the regular 205 is still a great machine.

There are updates coming to the units. But if you asked me which I would rather use, it would be the non pulse unit. The AWS seems to think so as well, and it is my understanding, they don't regard it as a valid process for welding procedures in MIG. Price is significantly more as well.

I use a 250P for most of my MIG welding and I never use the pulse controls. Never had a reason and never been disappointed in a weld it's done. I wish the 250P went lower than 40amps as that's a tad to hot for sheet metal.

The 205P would be a good choice for those doing sheet metal to 1/4"-3/8" steel (single pass) but still want the pulse mode. Not a bad range.

If you have the extra cash, nothing wrong with the 205P. But I agree with Mark, I too would probably skip the pulse unless I could not get the unit I wanted without it.

Could you tell me what settings you use for non-pulse operation? Been playing around with the welding machine for almost a year now and still unsure of what settings to use...

    Thanks,

Lorch and Fronius both have dual or twin pulse, a slow pulse at .2 (1 pulse every 5 seconds) and a fast pulse up to like 2000 pps. Both will put down tig like welds without any gun manipulation, Fronius's will be made in USA in October. I am looking at the Lorch and may get one. Check out the video on you tube by Lorch (masters of speed).

    Don,

Not sure what machine you have. Assuming it's a MIG since you quoted a MIG post.. Here is a link to help with the welder for the 205 from a member that is pretty close to what I use. But it will give you the mind set to match up the voltage for your style as well.

With the pulse off I would figure you get about 14-24V range or better. Best to make notes when you test it on different thickness metals. We honestly look at the metal, set it, tweak if needed and go.

Every pulse mig I have welded with will adjust out to have less sparks and splatter, that is why I want a fast pulse. The slow pulse at .5 pps or slower makes a beginner look like a professional tig welder. The problem is they cost about 8000 bucks.

Everlast needs to add slow pulse (dual pulse) to they 205P and 250P, I would buy the first one.
