Hi from NE CT. I'm looking at possibly purchasing a PP205. I've been stick and gas welding/brazing for eons, mostly on hobby stuff and garage repairs, but have been running into their inherent limitations. Working mostly w/steel but looking to dabble in aluminum.

    Bikenstitchz,

Welcome to the forum. The 205 will handle steel and aluminum for you. We also have a new MicroTIG 185 as well if you are looking for portable and simple user interface. Not that to 205 is that big.

Any question, give us a call or post up here.

The 205 looked good to me due to the plasma cutter feature. What are the practical differences between the 205 and the 256, given that I'm not doing production/high duty cycle work? The incremental price difference isn't that great, and I'm not too concerned about portability.

    welcome bikenstichz,

i recently went thru the exact same decision between the PP256 and PP205.

from what i was told by alex, the PP205 carries most of the features of the 256, basicly just 50 less amps is the main diffrence.
he also told me that the consumables for the plasma torch on the 205 are interchangeable with consumables that are available to us (i am on the east coast as well, in MA) locally.
the 256's are apparently only available thru everlast.
so, if you dont need the extra 50 amps the 205 is your best bet (at least thats what i was told by alex..lol)
i went with the '205..they should arrive at port april 10 according to the last email i got from alex and crew.
