Default Real Cheap Tig Torch Cooler

I picked up two brass fittings one that attached to a hose fitting the other adapted to a 1/4" hose barb 50' of polyethylene tubing and two double ended 1/4" hose barbs to attach the hoses to the torch it works pretty good. I just run a light flow of water through the tubing and dump it out in the tree bed. The draw back is that its not so portable. I don't weld a lot at high amps so I am not sure how it would work with a lot more heat. I bought everything for less than $20.00. It keeps my torch cool for now until my Power Cool 300 comes in.

Great idea there, I will primarily be welding .125 to .180 wall 1" to 2-1/4" alum tubing in short bead lengths , maybe 3 to 5 inches. But... there will be approximately 20 or so of these welds to complete and once all the tacks are in place most likely I will finish all of the welds back to back. Would a water cooler be in order for that kind of welding. Taking into account 30s To a min to reposition for the next bead, will that be enough time to keep from overheating the torch?

I have a wash basin in the shop that I can get water from and I have up to 65 psi avail at that tap and can adjust that pressure easily as its separate from the house feed an has its own pressure regulator . So should I think about setting up something like this until i cal afford a cooler with the type of use I described above?

aaxiss, I am no expert at this but its works good for me. I have welded 1/8" material for 2-3 minutes at a time like this and I running a very light flow of water thru the torch.

Heck I may have to pay an electrician fairly soon to wire up a dedicated welder circuit so looks like the water cooler is a ways off so I will definitely be giving this a try once my production jig is made. If all goes well my First run may pay for a cooler and then some.

The problem i see with running tap water as a cooling source is it is high in minerals and over time will clog the torch head

Vinegar will cure that easily I get mineral buildup on the tap and takes it right off after 20 min soak . a 1 gal jug of vinegar is 2.25 one line at 2 ft high other at 1 ft into bucket fill high line till low line runs to bucket and let set if your really worried about it. Me I will just purge line when done with compressed air so hard water doesn't sit in line.
