Thread: TG AC pp256 need help.

  1. Unhappy TG AC pp256 need help.

New to the forum, bought a 256 for aluminum work late last year. I have had a few problems with the tig function in ac with pedal. If someone could give me some guidance would be appreciated.
When you set the amps @ 170 and try to use the foot pedal as soon as you touch the pedal it heats 1/8 aluminum and it blows right through. Other times the hf has a hard time starting. It seems the foot pedal has no different amp range full or just engaged. If you push the pedal full the arc bounces all over the place, almost surging. If you set the amps at 0 it does the exact same thing.
If someone could be so kind to instruct me on all the settings that should be set on the welder, (this is not my first tig welder), I would like to know if I missed something.
    Thanks

    Racecar,
You can call tech support any time during operating hours so we can go over it with you. Have you tried it with the tig torch switch? Do you have it in 2T when using the pedal?

I might have talked to you in January on the phone or it might have been someone else. I will try to call tomorrow.
Yes the switch is in T2 and we tried the torch switch and it will work but not well.
    Thanks for the response
