Default Need help finding a brand of grinding disc.

I have been using these discs and need to find a source to buy them. The local store that sold them went of business. They cut twice as fast as DeWalt discs and last a lot longer.

Thanks, too bad I didn't stock up. They were half price, marked down from $1.99 to .99 when I bought them last fall.

That sucks, finding good wheels is hard to do these days. I usually end up buying the tool shop ones at Menards. They aren't the greatest but the are cheap enough and get the job done. One thing I have learned is to never buy grinding wheels mounted on a threaded arbor. They seem like a good idea but wow do they produce killer vibrations if the become unbalanced. I bought 2 once from the local welding supply store for $7 each, used each one for about 40-50% of its life and coulndn't hang onto the grinder anymore because my hands were numb. I rarely ever have that problem with the version with just a hole.

If they last longer, I'm all for it. I don't shop price alone, I look for the best value. So if it cost twice as much but lasts 3 times longer, I'll get it.

Do the wheels by Sait last longer?

Sait, is ok, but I found that Pearl abrasives makes a fantastic disk for grinding. That's what I use. They are fast grind, long life wheels, and have a funny red color to the unit. They also have a special SS grinding wheel that improves performance on SS.

Well, I googled them and found them at EMI supply for $1.65 each. So I ordered 50 to try.

EMI is giving away free samples of ARC abrasives, so I ordered those as well.

One thing Ive noticed is that the discs at the cheaper stores really dont cost much less. Ive actually found some of the brand name discs at a better price at other stores. Thanks for all the info on what to use. I will have to check them all out.

I love my sait grinding/cutoff wheels.... I have never tried the pearl abrasive ones though, where do you get them?

any of them I have ever tried from an autoparts store are junk, hardware store... junk. I get mine through my local industrial supply store, or Fastenal(if i absolutly need them now! cause they cost almost 2x as much)
I'd like to think I'm the guy they are talkin about when they say, "he could F%^& up a cannon ball in a plowed field."

I just used the Pearl disks yesterday and they cut super fast. They also seem to be holding up much longer than any other disks that I've tried. I'm going to stick with them.

If you think they're cool...you ought to try their stainless grinding disks...

I thought you might like them. Not as much dust either, unless you stick your foot on the grinder while grinding below the waist.lol.
