Thread: Anybody weld nitinol?

    Default Anybody weld nitinol?

I been tinkering around with nitinol wire. I havnt tried welding it yet. I want to see if I can weld wire together to make a loop. Anbody got some tips on this? Its little over half nickel and the rest titanium. Should just be a fast little spot weld together. I have a feeling my hardest part will be to clean up such thin wire to prepare for welding. To do that without greatly lowering its strength. It will be under tension when its done. Any information on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Frank

Hit it with some scrotch bright and then acetone and weld away and watch your heat
