    Default Small Tig Torch

Does Everlast sell a small flex head TIG torch yet? I talked to Alex about this a few months ago and he mentioned that it was being worked on.

In order to fit a Flex head 125 amp WP9 size to my welder I had to do a bit of rigging with various bits and pieces not necessarily intended for the job.

Now that it is on there, the difference between using it and the bulky supplied fixed head 200 amp torch is night and day for control.

Of course, if I need to go over 125 amps I switch back to the wp26. It is always a relief to get the little torch back on for delicate stuff, which seems to be most of my welding.

I too would like to know how soon as I will be doing a lot of precise fabricating.

I placed my order for a pp256 last month and spoke with Alex on the phone to make the order. He sold me a WP-17 I think it was and it is a flex head. I know he mentioned a WP-20 also.

The Wp 20 is a 200 amp watercooled torch. They are quite compact.
The wp 17 is an aircooled 150 amp torch, medium sized for an aircooled but still pretty bulky for fine work.
The WP 9 is much smaller than the 17 and is rated at 125 amps (some wp 9s are rated lower) so that is what I use for thin wall materials. My WP9 torch is small enough that I can easily grip it the way you would grip a pencil when drafting. This makes for very good torch control.

On .065 wall SS I'm typically welding at 38 to 42 amps. I find that I can get by with the wp9 for anything up to about 3/16" thick steel, after that the 200 amp wP 26 goes back on.

Aluminum is another story, probably best to go watercooled if you have much of it to do!

My unit came with the 18 torch and I just got the WP20 torch. The 20 worch is TINY compared to the stock torch! My WP20 torch isn't a flex head though, I didn't know it was an option.

I don't know, I'm hoping that one of the Everlast Sales team will notice this thread and fill us in . I guess they are busy selling and servicing welders!
