Thread: welding cart

  1. Default welding cart

i put this in the wrong section and asked to have it moved but got no response so i'm doing it myself

ok so i got tired of my toolbox looking like this

and having to carry my welders around when the leads weren't long enough so since i had abunch of angle laying around i decided to build a cart real quick. took about 4 hours to build and it's only temporary so don't rag on me for it not being perfect. i still need to make some hooks to hold the leads and i'm thinking about putting a a junction box in the back with a short cord so i don't have to keep plugging and unplugging cords when i switch units and i'm also thinking about bolting the ground clamps together and just having 1 clamp. i'm tired of getting tangled up in the mess of cords and cables

it's 24x 18.5 and will carry 2 125/150 bottles and all 4 casters turn which i'm not happy about but it's all i had laying around and like i said above it's temporary. when i get around to building the finished product it'll be out of aluminum with 5" casters instead of the 3" wheels i had

I like it, specially the room for 2 bottles so you can switch from argon to a mix easy without unloading a bottle and replacing it. Good job. now just paint it everlast green an it's a winner

NM I just noticed that is either a mig welder or plasma cutter on top or vice versa on the bottom. dont have my glasses on , ready for bed.

But I'm still gonna steal your Idea for a 2 Bottle cart 1 argon and one helium/argon mix bottle with a Y valve plumbed into my Powertig 250ex

"Good job. now just paint it everlast green an it's a winner "

Last Wednesday someone (later I found out a friend) dropped 5 gallons of Everlast green paint on the road after dark. I unknowingly ran through it with my white car shortly afterward and 16 hours later discovered that the entire underside of my car was Everlast Green with small dots of green everywhere else. NOT HAPPY.

it's an i-mig 200 on top with a powerultra 205 on bottom. i was thinking about getting some expanded metal to put between the supports for the welders and the outside cart supports so i can store pencil's, consumables, whatever i need to store. if you look at the top picture of post 2 at the bottom welder you'll see where i have a type of y connection so i can have my regulated air on 1 side or argon on the other for the power ultra.

tritium 3m makes an adhesive remover that works great on paint removal without messing up the clear coat on your car. think i have a can left from when i had something similiar happen to my truck and i'll see if it has a part number on it

We insist on pics of the car.

I never thought of it until now, but I might paint my next offroader that way. spread out a hundred feet or so of salvaged paint and run through it....

I am out trying to 'find myself'. If I should wander back while I am gone, please tell me to sit quietly and wait for myself to return.

I don't want to hijack this thread any more and I should have taken pics but my wife was so mad I just did my best to power wash it clean. I got at least 98% of it off but close inspection still shows tiny green specks here and there. Not enough for a good pic though.
