I don't mind sharing some basic information with you.

I started out as a heavy equipment operator then moved to carpentry. I have been a journeyman carpenter for over twenty years. Moved into project management in my fifth year. But will always consider myself as a carpenter first. I do metal work in my spare time. General repairs and art work when the fancy hits me.

I have a ton of wood working equipment but have been now moving more and more into working with metal. For metal I purchased a used Sears stick welder about twelve years ago. I had not idea Sear even made anything like that. Nice welder, smooth steady ark with a large working range.

Torches of course with my own tanks. Cut off saws, metal bender, hydraulic pipe bender, sand blasting equipment and one sand blasting cabinet. I run the sand blasting equipment off an old Webber air compressor I rebuilt. A true tank of a unit that uses a 7 hp motor. I ran my own pipe through a custom made air chiller to draw the moisture out for the sandblasting and painting.

I will admit I am a tool snob. No junk or cheap cr%p. That includes (for me) black and decker, any non brand, dewalt (black and decker again!), store brands, etc. The Sears welder was one of the few exceptions, very smooth machine. I also have a bad habit of modifying a lot of my tools. For example the sand blasting cabinet only looks stock. Every seam and joint was sealed as I built it. Installed flood lights, configured filtered intake air (in case of decompression) installed a duct for a hepa filtered vacuum to reduce contamination, etc.
