Thread: Franken Trailer...

    Default Franken Trailer...

So one day I was walking around Harbor Freight and there was a sign on a pile of broken boxes with parts spilling out of them with a sign that said "Franken Trailer". I asked the manager what was up and he tells me they are damaged cartons that contain some or most of the parts for 3 small trailers. I got the whole mess for $150.00 and sat in the store room in the back painstakingly inventorying every part. When I was done I figured it was a steal, so I paid them and loaded up. A week later I had this:

I used Butterfly latches to cleat the corners of the stake sides and with no tools you can go from stake side to flatbed in minutes. I also have a motorcycle wheel chock hole pattern in the front when I want to haul a single bike. The Chinese powder coat didn't hold up well to the elements so it might get painted with POR-15 this summer. I have tons of spare parts, including three sets of lights and harnesses.

I converted an old boat trailer into a flat bad trailer for a friend of mine. He got it dirt cheap and I added some C- channel to it and some square tubing for the 5/2 decking to bolt to and that was it. I will add some pictures once I find them.

I have a triple motorcycle trailer built by a boat trailer company (Yacht Club) and it is really solid. Only trouble is the Goldwings are so wide at the engine (Pancake 6 cyl) I can only get two on at a time. I used it to haul the Wings from Seattle to Rockford when we moved.
