Tip Tig

What is the story with Tip Tig ? I saw a video today and a welder laid down a bead about 10" long faster and better looking than I can do with toothpaste on my toothbrush (hey its the only kind of bead I consider myself an expert at doing) in about the same amount of time . It looks like a fantastic process and also fantastically expensive I imagine.

I think this is a hot wire or cold wire feed method. that's to say it utilizes a standard tig arc and the filler deposition is automated. Sometimes the filler itself is electrified as in mig, but I think for this process it is a cold feed method or it seems the violence of the metal transfer would disturb the shielding.

Tip Tig utilizes a hot wire and a tig arc. I was interested in one until I saw the price. There expensive.

By hot wire I assume you mean electrically hot. So this is a hybrid TIG/MIG essentially?

If you read the rest of his site and writings about the Tip Tig, he claims it is not hot wire as others use, but it is a vibrating wire that agitates the puddle, plus it is an automated feed for perfect fill deposits every time; once you get it set right for the project. They are more popular in Europe. He is the exclusive North America distributor, so he gets to set the price.
