Did You Get a New Machine In April

If you received a new machine on the April order, how is it working? Any problems hooking up? Did you download the new manual and read it before you received your welder? Did you use customer suport? How would you rate the support you received? How much welding time TIG/Stick do you have? Are you using it as a hobby or job?

I received my power plasma 50 and wc300 for the power tig 250 ex that i had received in feb. Both wired up just fine. The wc300 was plug and play, just had to install the quick connect x barb fitting to my torch lines. Have not filled it yet, as I had to leave town right after testing. The power plasma just required connection to the wiring and air lines that I had set up and ready. I have not had a need for customer support as yet. So far, everything is working perfectly. I have used the tig for 3/8 aluminum and steel, 1/4 steel and some scheduel 40 steel pipe. Aside from my poor skills, it works awsome. I played with the plasma for about a half hour after hooking it up. I cut some 3/8 aluminum and steel, 1/4 steel, double stacked 3/8 steel for a 3/4 cut. All cuts were smooth and clean. On the 3/8 steel and the double stacked 3/8, both sides of the steel were epoxy paint coated, they were scraps from a job site. The coating did not effect the cuting ability at all.

I am going to a race this weekend (without my bike), and wil likely start on a new turbo header with it next week, provided my materials show up for the header.

I received my Powerpro 205 two days ago. Haven't had time to hook it up yet, but the air pressure regulator gauge was broken and the consumable bits were scattered in the box and much of them missing.

Sounds like it took a hit in shipping. Good new it was on the accessories box side of the main box. Call into sale/customer support and let them know and they get that fixed for you. Any other question, call into tech support.

Any word on releasing some of the 250EX's that were held in reserve yet? How is the inventory?

Not, yet, in a couple weeks. We have a few straggler units coming in a couple weeks and we will evaluate it then.

Mine arrived DOA, sort of. There is a 50 cent relay stuck in closed position, so the moment you turn the machine on, the tig or plasma cutter activates if in that mode. No trigger control, you can't STOP it either. Torch blazes away in Plasma, points raise hell in TIG mode until you turn it off at the main breaker.

I'm posting this to let you others know that if this happens, it's a stupid Little 12volt relay that's screwing us, not an inherent design flaw. i banged the relay with a screwdriver handle, to no avail.

Mark and Ray have been great on the phone, Alex is working on talking me into having it repaired instead of replaced. I haven't exactly decided yet as to repair or replacement. I'm torn. Both will take about the same length of time. I don't think they have a spare 256 to trade me. They are more than likely sold out again.

It does a GREAT stick weld, but here's the funny thing about stick welders; they are ALWAYS on by design....

From my point of view of course, so please try to understand...If it was me, I'd go for the repair. While the unit is there it will get tested out further than a simple repair. The center puts them through tests and checks them from a technical standpoint, and anything not to par will be examined and brought to standard. I'd definitely feel more comfortable with this than a fully new unit, given the level of checking going on at the service level.

I was leaning towards repair for that exact reason; extended testing, and a professional tune-up and tweek.

I got my 256 on the 26th. So far so good. The box showed up in good shape and everything works as expected.

yeah busy kicking the tire and testing every thing out...The welder looks to have been ok during shipping and so far so go with the welding. The first hour of tig was pretty rough...looks a lot easier in the video...but I just keeping laying beads every day and they are starting to look better and better

I received my 250ex in april also and must say it's a winner, burns stick great and with my limited tig skills it works great also. Able to keep the puddle right on the joint and get a good solid weld, it's the feeding of the filler rod that needs work my timing seems to get thrown off easily . I'll have 4-7 good "dimes" in a row than I fudge it up and it takes me a few cycles to get a rhythm going again. I guess as time passes the rhythm part will come naturally. As a side note I am doing my tig welding with torch control only as I am paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.

So if a gimpster like me can do-it-to-it than anyone can and as far as equipment the everlast brand ranks right up there in my books.

Over all, machine looks good, and if it works as well as it looks then it will be great.

I live in Texas and we have been under a burn ban for quite some time, more rain and it could be lifted, hate to make the news when I try it out, but getting closer to having a go at it. Need bottle, tig rod and such. Plug in a bit strange, mentions 40Amp draw some where it in the book, plug is for 20, got 40 amp slanted plug and female box for it. Will be running it off of my Miller 250 welder. Need to drive and independent ground for it and get all the wire up sorted out. Getting there.

Got my SuperCut 50P and I LIKE IT! Makes my oxy / acetylene cutting gear look like a crayola while the plasma cutter is a fine mechanical drafting pencil.

My consumables Pkg was also broken open inside the box, I think the glue they use to hold the clear part over the paperboard backing is just spit with a bit of flour mixed together to make a crude paste LOL. Overall though when you consider the price comparison, little things like that are no biggie when the closest Miller or Lincoln units that have the same features that my 250EX has are $1000 or more in price. My unit had a couple little dings in the side ( Probably from Fed-ex ) but it's a welder not a new BMW, and weld it does!!! Hope you get your ban thing lifted soom and are able to start using it soon. Good Luck with your future Projects

I got my PA200 about a week ago. No issues at all. I hooked up the 10-50P plug and started practicing. I've got no welding experience but it's starting to come together. You may wonder why I'm using the big 10-50 plug. I already have a 220 circuit run in for my wife's pottery kiln, so I just wired the welder to match. I don't anticipate having to take it someplace else to weld, so having the "usual" welder plug isn't a big issue. I can always change it later if the need presents itself.

or just make a short heavy/short pigtail from your plug to the standard welder plug

Or make a pigtail for the kiln outlet to the standard welder plug.... Nah, I'll just buy a standard plug if I need to plug it in someplace else and switch it back for home. That way I don't have to buy the heavy wire or the second receptacle.
