Thread: dumb dens connector question

    Default dumb dens connector question

I was looking at my 250 and pics I have seen on the web and I think I have something hooked up wrong. On the web I am seeing pics where the water return line is comming out the top of the dens when its hooked up to the welder. On my 250 once the dens is pushed in and twisted the water outlet ends up on the bottom. I am going to be hooking up a new torch later this week and didnt want to mess anything up, but should the water return end up on the top of the cable once its hooked up to the welder?

Logic would come into play, I want cold water heading to the torch head and then back to the dinse connector picking up more heat, I don't want the water preheated by the dinse and then flowing to the torch head.

The adapter for my WP 20 has the return line on top when it's plugged in to the machine.

hmm..that is what I was thinking...this make me think the dens hook up on the welder is rotated 180degrees

The Dinse connector should have the slot at near vertical. The tapped threads on the connector position have been known to change. I am not sure if the torch factory uses a standard position, or just picks a flat side and drills a hole. The connector CAN be rotated, but it is tricky because IF I remember right the connector on the machine has a slot that hold the plasic part. The metal part has to be pushed out and rotated and reinserted.

ok sounds like the connector on the torch is ok

So it looks like the connection on the welder needs to be rotated a bit

Here is what the connected torch looks like now

so do I need any special tools to adjust the dinse connection on the welder?

Ok spoke with Mark and it looks like this is the way it should be. Since my cooler is to the side of the welder that is why I am having problem. Good news is new special tool is needed to adjust the connection and I am going to get it dialed in later today
