I would like to put one on order then. I had an offer accepted, but When I said ok lets do it, I was offered me a different machine. How should I place the order, by phone or by email?

James you waited too late apparently. All 256's are spoken for. But I'd recommend getting a 250 EX anyway, a better unit in my opinion. And buy a separate 50 amp plasma cutter. You'll be a lot more happy.
You can order from me or give me a call and we can discuss your options.

Mark,
I went against your reccomendation, and couldn't be happier!
I very seldom, have issues with needing both cutting, and welding at the same time.
Why is it you are so anti 256?
Not an attack, just a legit question.

The 250 has a much higher duty cycle and people complain about having to switch the gas and air. I just put quick disconnects on mine so it takes all of 5 seconds to switch the air then another 5 to switch torches. I couldn't be happier with my 256 either
Guys,
Experience makes me this way. Mike, and Ray will probably feel this way as well. There's a LOT going on inside the units. More parts, sharing responsibility equals more things to go wrong. IF something goes wrong, then you LOOSE use of BOTH while it is being repaired. There are things that don't come on par with the 250 EX or the PowerPlasma 60 when lumped together. Duty cycle is a main one, but if you compare the specs that count, you will see that (if I remember right) the amp draw is lower on the 256. That means somewhere something is being given up in performance. Yes, amps are amps, but somewhere there is a sacrifice. Does it weld great? Yes? Does it cut good? Yes. But if you have your hands on an individual unit, you'll see for yourself.

Send me the individual units, and I'll compare them, If I still like the 256 better, I keep them all, if not I keep them all! J/K
Thank you for your honest and quick reply!
Duty cycle was not a issue for me as I've never ran a bead longer than a minute or two, nor was it at full power.
I would like individual units some day, but thats a lot of "GREEN" pun intended![]()

I agree with Mark here, it would be ideal to have separate units for most work, epsecially if the unit is used solely in a shop.
The multifunction has it over the separate units for 1. cost 2. use as a portable; only one small unit (talking about my PU205 here) to pack under your arm and you have a welder and a cutter on the jobsite.
For in shop use, I often make cuts with the metal cutting bandsaw rather than switch the torches back and forth. I have the gas and air hooked up on all of the time on quick couplers with valves, so that part is easy. Even so, I don't like changing torches for a small cut.
The other bigger issue for shop use is the smoke created by plasma cutting. I tig weld in a section of the shop that is draft free. If I do any plasma cutting in this space I need to open it up and ventilate for 20 -30 minutes , which means no tig welding for 20-30 minutes, in fact no work of any kind in that part of the shop for 20- 30 minutes. The other choice is to carry on tig welding and breathe in all of that plasma smoke, not good for the lungs!
So for the shop I would like to set up a plasma cutter in a separate space from the tig and make sure this space is well ventilated.
