    Default 66 Mustang disc brakes

I put a set of disc brakes on the front of a 66 mustang this weekend, and let me tell you, the Willwood kits are the way to go. I have done a number of these and usually they don't include some parts (and they are always the odball hard to find stuff, no Kaleco.com doesn't even have them!)

The will wood kit had EVERYTHING that was required (though I didn't use some of it.)

This is the old backing plate for the front drum brakes, although adequite they just aren't safe IMO. especially if your upgrading the motor and handling.

The owner is keeping the 240 Cu. in. I6 for gas mileage.... for now(If I know this guy a 351 Cleveland, that I have seen in the back of his shop, will be in here before long.)

    Hubs with races installed

The new spindles, with the caliper brackets installed

And finally rotors, calipers and pads.

I didn't get any pictures of the hardest part.... I HATE trying to form brake lines in a 2x6 in. spot under the hood hinges... GRR! so I got frustrated and put the camera away... I did finally get it done, looks good, works great. Maybe I'll snap some pics later(when I'm stuffing that cleveland in for him...LOL)
I'd like to think I'm the guy they are talkin about when they say, "he could F%^& up a cannon ball in a plowed field."

NOW for sunday's project... did the brakes on SAT. and while I was there one of his buddies stopped by, liked my work and threw me this job for sunday. Seems his camaro had a noise coming from the front timing chain area....

    this is the camaro

and the motor in the camaro... I'm told it's a 383 that'll put out around 450 HP... and when you push the skinny pedal, it'll make you giggle every time...

found the timing cover had been bent when someone put the crank seal in, and was rubbing on the timing chain. you always gotta back these tin covers up with a piece of wood or they'll rub!

you guys that know how hard it is to seal this project back up after you take down the oil pan and remove the timing cover in the car will appreciate this. Permatex "The Right Stuff" is the ONLY kind of goop I use, and I have NEVER had it leak, NEVER. works on split motorcycle cases(if you have ever tried to seal these up you know what I'm saying) and those dad-gum chevy intake manifold gasket kits too!
