Ya know what would be nice....
A helmet lens that could be dark in one area and light in the other. It would automatically darken the most at the point of the arc and gradient out from there so you could see the area around the weld better. It would have 2 knobs.. the regular darkness adjustment and then a gradient curve adjustment to adjust how fast it lightens as it gets away from the arc point.
I've got my helmet on 9 and it's much better than 10, but sometimes I still can't see much farther than an inch or so from the point of the arc. Maybe that's all I need to see but it would be nice to be able to see 6" off. I can see pretty good when I'm playing around with 5/32" 6011 at 130+ amps but with 3/32" 7018 at half that, it's pretty much a glow around the arc.
I see the Defender has a wider range (7-15) than my HF (9-13). Maybe that's a solution.
