Thread: Project 2 for Injected65 - Turbo tubing

  1. Default Project 2 for Injected65 - Turbo tubing

On my last Mustang I fabbed up an aluminum turbo downpipe and the intercooler tubing. The downpipe was made from 5" 11 ga. mandrel bends. The intercooler tubing was 16ga (i think) 4" aluminum mandrel bent tubing. 5 years of abuse and thnkfully no weld failures.

Thanks for following the guidelines. Nice welds, particularly around the flanges. Keep it between the walls.

Thanks. I actually sold this car over the winter. I have a new 62 Ford Fairlane that I bought the 200DX to work on. I'll be starting a new thread on that build here in the next week or two.

I have a dumb question!!! I have always been around dirt late model racing. Why the tubes running in the passenger seat? I'm not being critical I just want to know. I like to watch those fast street cars, the narrow tires make it fun to watch. I'd rather watch the NMCA cars instead of the NHRA stuff.

No video's yet. I started cutting up the material for a cart last night so maybe here in a day or two.

The tubes are for an air/water intercooler that is mounted in the back seat area. IF you are familiar with the NMCA then the car was built very similar to the new X275 class that they have.
