Thread: Power Plasma 50 Air Filter Bracket

  1. #1

Default Power Plasma 50 Air Filter Bracket

It is my understanding that the air filter bracket supplied by Everlast does not give enough clearance on the back of the machine. What have you guys done to fix this? My thought is to put some washers in there to act as a spacer. If all else fails, I will make a new bracket. If you have made a new bracket, please post a pic.

Thanks GWD. How did you attach the angle to the filter? BTW, I like the elbow idea.

The stock bracket was used to determine where the holes should go. The holes on the filter are slightly recessed in the housing so a couple of small triangles were cut from the bracket with a hacksaw. That allowed the filters "shoulders" to fit in the triangles. A better photo may be coming if time permits.

(Actually, in looking at the photo again, the outward side of the filter is just like the inward side. You can see where the little triangles need to be cut to clear those "flying buttresses", or whatever you want to call them, that are just outside the holes on both edges.)

The elbow on the filter keeps the hose's quick connect from applying too much torque to the filter/bracket. You likely figured that out yourself.

Mine is a PowerUltra 205P and it blocked the CNC port so I made a quick and dirty bracket from a piece of c purlin and attached it to the wall then ran a long hose to the cutter. When I get my cart built I plan to mount it on the cart not the machine.

I stole your idea and used 1" alum angle and a elbow. Works great. It is frustrating to have to do this on a brand new unit...

Resolving this on the factory side is a complicated issue, as the supplier of the filter would be the source of the problem and they produce mass quantities and must get through their current stock before they will make changes. A few washers usually take care of any issues.
