    Default Pipefitting Area (Finished!!)

My school is in the process of building a new area for doing practice pipe runs. Here are some photos detailing the build.

This is one of three six supporting posts for the new pipefitting area (we are building these in one of our existing pipe fitting areas)

Our school just bought a brand new Miller generator/welder to help us get this project done. (Should fix the problem of getting yelled at by other students for disconnecting their welding leads from the six pack welders by mistake)

Nice, the school is taking advantage of free labor! When I went to welding school we just welded on scraps, good to see your getting some good experience in the classroom. Work hard and be on time it will pay off because most trade schools are good at finding jobs for their students.

looks like your schools leaders actually have a clue...most would rather pay to build stuff then use the free labor they're trying to train

Hey guys!!!! Thanks for the replies. I have a lot of fun doing these kinds of projects, its a nice break from the usual doing pipe runs all day and its also educational!!! We ran into a couple problems while building this (mostly frame alignment/keeping level with the concretes slope) but in the end we overcame this with our lead instructors guidance. I'm always getting a lot of questions as to why I'm always taking pictures from the other students (I always mention the contest and everlast). At least the instructors don't care!! I'll have completed this class JUNE this year (although as much as I love welding I plan to pursue a career in network engineering after I graduate.) Thanks for the awesome comments everyone!! MORE BUILD PICS to come (we are not done yet!!)

I couldn't help but post this as I thought this was a really cool scenery picture (just had a huge rainstorm) [crappy camera doesn't do this justice]

It's a good idea taking pictures. When you finish school and start looking for a job make a portfolio from you work. It will help you stand out from other applicants who submit a resume or fill out an application.

This is a cool contraption that the lead instructor came up with as a last minute add on. Its used to vary the angles of the pipe runs so students can try to do a run with bastard angles (pipe-fitters blue book comes real handy for these).

This is never o.k. It is also on a part of the rig where it can slip down off of that top bar and drop the wearer further. Just a note. OI work in the trades. Local 699 Sprinkler fitter. Safety is a bitch, but no joke. Best to learn proper uses now.
Nice looking training facility though. That sort of hands on training is invaluable!
