  1. Default Foot pedal specs??

Been having trouble with the foot pedal.

After checking into some links, This one looks promising. It a special order for a 50K (50,000) potentiometer foot pedal with 2 watt. The usual ratings are from 1K-25K. This is the L series (L50,000)

This is what one of the members did.

What I wanted to know was if the 2 watt rating of the foot pedal would work.

    Thanks

2 watts is a lot of power, no problem there. The link you showed has 25K as the max. in their tables. Check pins 3-4 or 4-5 on our pedal, then match that value and you should be fine.

Wiring is simple. 1-2 on/off 3-4-5 pot (4 is common), short 6-7 to ID plug is a foot pedal.

Post up the model and price when you are done if you can, like Steve did. I miss Steve, I think one of our contests and a debate caused him to leave. Bright guy and a big boat project.

    Hope that helps.

    Oky Thanks Mike.

Just getting my ducks in a row.

The 50K is why it's a special order. With 25' cable, the cost with shipping to N. Ca is $138.xx...

The special order # is L50000.

    From SSC:

'They’re $125.90. UPS will charge $12.65, so your total will be $138.55 delivered.'

    Thanks,

I'll be ordering one as soon as I get the ordering form verified as to the corrected modification. I asked for an 18' cable instead of the 25' one that was in the price quote.

Welll, they don't have a specific ordering form or any way to put in an order. I guess you have to call and place the order etc, etc. Gotta think on it.

In the mean time, I got a Casio foot pedal for a musical inst like elec piano or guitar or something or other. One of the guys put up a mod someone else did to adapt it to the harbor freight 130 TIG...found the post by Parkour and his link.

Internally it has a toothed lever that engages a gear that steps up to a larger gear that turns the POT. The pedal movement is short and turns, thru gearing, the POT 7/8 rotation. The Everlast POT turns 3/4 rotation so there's plenty of room to adjust for full movement. All I have to do is make a bracket to mount the toothed lever/foot pedal to pivot on and a bracket to hold the POT and one to hold the gear shaft. The only thing is the gears turn the Casio POT counter clockwise so I'll have to flip the Pot.

The neat thing, the gears are the same pattern as a sewing machine belt so I can do a mod like acourtjester did.

    (pix didn't show)

I'm gonna copy and paste this reply on the 'Anything new on foot pedal designs' where 'acourtjester' has his pix.

I'd be very interested in seeing how it comes out. It MIGHT be something we could relay to the factory, with your permission of course.
