Bottom line the only way to stop the
flow is to shut the machine off.

Thanks
I am experiencing a similar problem at the moment with my 200DX (about to try stretching the spring again while I wait for a new solenoid to be shipped). One trick I've found other than shutting off the welder entirely is to take the Argon hose between the torch and where it plugs into the welder and bend it over on itself to put a kink in it. When the Ar flow in the meter starts to drop, usually you can release the hose and the back pressure now causes the solenoid to close. Your mileage may vary, but it's a bit more convenient than shutting the welder down after every pass. I'm not sure I'd want to put the hose under that kind of stress for thousands of cycles, but it works for a few times.
