Thread: Off Road roll cage repair

  1. Default Off Road roll cage repair

My friend with the Jeep wanted new pads on his roll cage and all cracks fixed and holes filled in and ground. Again weeks ago and did not take a lot of picture. but people like picture. Done with Power IMIG-250P. Sorry no more pictures. Hot where I live but I am very careful in shorts.

How do you like that Imig 250? At some point in the future I would like to add one, but it will be a while. My Imig 200 lays down some sweet beads.

Last time (which was also the first time) I tried welding in shorts it was a disaster: spark burns and sparks into my shoes. Maybe I'll try an apron next time.

Glad you were able to help your friend out. What caused the cracks and holes that you were fixing?

    Hi Sean

It is nice. We have the IMIG-250P for many years and got the IMIG-200 maybe two years ago. The 250 is the older model but welds like a dream. The IMIG200 is mine and I use it most of the time. But the 250 has that extra power and pulse. I use it less now unless low on gas or need the extra power. The 250 torch is an Benzel AK25 so a bit beefier to. I like the AK15 on the 200 since smaller.

A lot of picture were not uploaded because of that. Safety stuff gets people going. Sometime if tacking or small repair I just use gloves and helmet but recommend everyone wear fully protection. My Dad is all over me but will do it to and safety glasses are his big thing. Depending on the position I will throw a leather apron over my legs and feet.

The pads had rusted were water sat at the bottom over time. Crack I think was only one. Holes were drilled in for fire bottle and other items but he wanted them all filled in. Most is in the back of the jeep now not hanging on the cage.
