  1. Question PT 200DX Gas Solenoid Issue

After having some hose to barb sealing issues, I took the cover off my machine to change the gas inlet barb on the gas solenoid to a flare style that is interchangable with my other welders (Miller). I tried unscrewing the barb from the solenoid but it is completely stuck. It's so tight I didn't dare to try any harder for fear of it breaking.

Can an everlast employee let me know how I can get a new gas solenoid valve (without a barb installed if possible/easier)?

You can call into sales and buy one. I would have to look at one to see if it is loctite or all one piece. Never tried to remove one.

Another option is cut a short (2" maybe) piece of hose and clamp it to the barb fitting and your flare fitting?

What’s on the threads is Loctite. It’s commonly used now on all kinds of high pressure fittings. Paintball tanks, SCBA parts etc.
The only way to remove it without damaging the treads is with a moderate amount of heat, (hot air heat gun) and keep it hot while moving. If the fitting it attached directly to the solenoid (on some models) it should be disassembled before heating.
Residual compound can be removed with MEK.
Yes it was meant to be permanent and not leak.

I also would NOT recommend changing them, but if your going to that’s how to do it w/o messing things up.
I know how you guys are, and yea, I’m the same way .
