Default Torch Height Controller with a PP50

I need some assistance from tech support. I’m looking into getting arc voltage torch height controller for my CNC for use with the PP50 I purchased at the beginning 2010. I’m finally going to break down and buy one. It seems like I’m always hovering over my CNC staring at this thing cut making sure the nozzle is not scraping as it cuts warped plate, and I hope to get more consistent cuts using one.

Here is the website about the height controller I plan to get http://www.candcnc.com/LCTHC.html

Here is my question. Does the PP50 have an “Arc Ok” signal output, and is it accessible to me? If it is accessible to me, will it void the warranty if I hook into it? I need to know because if it does not have one, I’ll need to purchase an additional option for $18.00.

    Thanks again,
    Chris

Do you have a CNC socket on the rear? If so, it does...But if not, you'll need to go in and add it. As long as you don't modify the existing components it won't void the warranty.

From what I can recall, it doesn’t have the CNC socket in the rear. I’ll have to double check to be sure. You mentioned to “go in and add it”. Is that difficult to accomplish? I have an electrician at hand. I’d hate to open the unit up and get lost in the wires, but I’d also hate to buy the extra “Arc Ok” sensor that somehow uses the A/C power cord to establish the signal. I sense that could be “moody” at times.

Everlast wouldn’t happen to have something wrote up on how to do this would they? I’m guessing I’m about 2 weeks off from buying the THC. I just want to get my ducks in a row before I pull the trigger and buy it.

    Thanks for the help,
    Chris

Chris before you take the plunge you may want to check out these two web sites, voltage controlled units are not all they are cracked up to be, infact they are known to porpose and dive like ducks on turns etc.

No, since we neither encourage or discourage the use of CNC on our older units, we haven't written anything up...But Mike or Ray could tell you possibly where you need to tap in.
