Thread: Project 1 for NRM: BBQ rotisserie

  1. Default Project 1 for NRM: Grill rotisserie

I made a pig rotisserie in February and wanted a smaller one for my grill. I already had the 1rpm motor so I put this smaller one together. The spit is 304ss 1/2” x 3’ rod and the prongs are 304ss 1/2” sch40 pipe and 304 1/4” rod. I used 3/32” ceriated tungsten, 1/16” 308 filler rod at ~80A.

Nice setup, but you know I have to throw this in: It ain't a bar b que unless it has wood under it. Barbeque involves smoke and a lots of it.

Do you have any pics of the motor setup? I have a smaller wood pellet grill and have been looking around for a rotisserie setup.

Sean I do have pics of the motor set up and I will post them later. The motor was originally to do a whole pig, largest pig to date is 60lbs, so it is overkill for my small grill. Being that I had the motor I just made another shaft/spit coupling and the roller brackets.

Here is a pic of the motor setup.
