Project 2 from Steve
Here is a little project I needed to do for a long time.
It is a trailer mount for a ham radio antenna...Specifically a Texas Bugcatcher antenna. It is a fold over mount that attaches to the ball mount of a trailer hitch.
I built the mast a while ago and sold the antenna on E-bay. I no longer had the original mount so I had to quickly build the fold over mount this morning so I could ship it out today.
It is made out of 1/8 plate steel. I used my Powerplasma 50 to cut the metal, my Hobart Handler 210 to tack it up and the Powertig 250 EX to weld it up. Everything went as smooth as can be. Man it sure is nice to be able to cut metal without going through tons of gas or abrasive cut off disks. The Powerplasma 50 cut my cutting time down to almost nothing. I was disappointed that it went so quickly. I was having fun and it went too quick!
The Powertig 250EX was perfect for welding this up. I did not have to use any tig rods as the fit up was so close as to not have any spacing at all.
Overall, it took me about an hour to build it. Going to build another sand scoop as a friend wants one after seeing the one I built previously.
