hey guys! my name is Jim. i am by no means a "professional" welder, but have been welding for quite a while. got into the TIG process not too long ago. my fabrication background stems from the paper mill and brick making industries, where at the mill i was a mechanic (heavy equipment and paper machines), equip. operator and fabricator, and i went on to be an electrical engineer at the block plant, where i also did their machining, fabrication, and heavy equipment operation (hell yes i was busy!!!.. 12-17 hour days, but the money was KILLER)
i was a machinst for a while afterwards and now spin a wrench on motorcycles and operate heavy equip and maintain a warehousing facility in martinsburg, wv.
i'll be moving to NC soon tho to open a new bike shop probably building race bikes, doing custom fab stuff and doing general builds and maintenance.
i'd like to get back into the EE thing to when time permits. theres a fortune to be had in that.
just picked up a super200P that will be the gem of my shop. LOVE this thing. bought it "used" from a local and fellow engineer (mechanical..) that just didn't have time to use it. it was still in the bubblewrap!
the first big task will be building a turbo system for my 2000 Kawasaki ZX7-R, which i will compete in Land Speed events with. looking to break 200mph and achieve 250hp at the wheel out of just 749CCs. amazingly, it's entirely possible!
heres some of the pride and joy i own (bike and welder..)
i made that dash due to the fact i added a gas gauge to the bike. they didn't come stock with a gauge!
a work in progress, as is everything i have.. haha.
good to be here! hopefully i can be of some dorta value here!
have fun and be safe!
