    Default a few PU205 questions

    HI, dne' here!
I bought a pu205 a few weeks ago and finally getting it setup. Got my argon, tungsten, etc. I've found I'm not very good at any of it, but my main problem is when using the Tig, the argon never cuts off after tigging, and the compressed air for the plasma never stopps blasting compressed air unless I cut the machine off ,and start over again, then I can cut once, but then I can't cut again until I turn it off; then the compressed air still keeps blasting. I'm watching my large bottle of Argon dissappear rather alarmingly during the Tig!!. Me and the Tech guy are playing phone tag; he always calls when I'm in the middle of something. Anyway, I have questions, but can't ask until I get the machine funtioning.; )

Welcome, Dne'! I don't want to get in the way of the tech support guys on this forum, but a search on this site suggests it may be your gas solenoid not seating properly, or requiring a spring adjustment. Other people who've run into this have fixed it themselves- I read your other post and something tells me you won't be shy about pulling the cover off the machine.

    Default Ray saves the day!

What a nice guy Ray is! I found the points finally, but I don't think they were in the usual place. The gap was very wide, so I put them closer as directed, and LSS, got the machine going! OMG, I'm going to rip a lot of metal tomorrow! lol I'm not sure about the pedal for the mig, I may use the switch on the handle for a while.

Im wanting to tig a radio patch panel in my '59 Apache, and need that gauge metal to practice~ hm, not sure where to get a sheet of metal like that for practice purpose. Anyway, I'm excited!!!

What happened with the gas and air ?... we went from sticking solenoid to HF point gap all of a sudden.

    Default Coincedence?

Well, before I even removed the cover, the gas would stay on(air or argon), So I did what a member said, I removed the cover, took the housing off of the solenoid and stretched the spring somewhat, then the argon/air shut off like it's supposed to, but then the Tig wouldn't ignite! and I took in consideration of the post control. By Ray's instructions, I found the points and found it to be very wide, and put the points closer together and worked the toggle switch(as per Rays instructions), then it began working correctly. I was hoping to play with it this morning, but I have to babysit for a couple days, so maybe Monday I can get back out and see how it works.
