Thread: Product ratings

    Post Product ratings

I was thinking that it might be beneficial to have a rating and a review like right below your products...Then if someone finds Everlast and decides to look at your products, it will have customer reviews and a customer rating on the page for the product so they don't have to go into the form to try and find them...

That is a Corporate/Oleg and crew thing, we would have to have the web team do that and there would be "cost" involved. But they might see this and read it. I will pass on the link. Be we really do not need more work as that will have a "cost". Eventually the "prices" will have to go up. We have not had a major price increase in the 5+ years I have been here.

Also, there will be a bunch of 5 stars and the one person with no clue that will generate more work removing the "my unit showed up and was broke in shipping", "my unit has a dent in the side", "I needed it Friday and it got here Monday", etc.

I myself buy a lot of stuff on the internet and have to ignore those guys that bought a twin cut saw, rage 3, whatever items and I have to read their posts to see it is not the product but the shipper or user that is the issue before I buy.

A lot of people come here and bash us to find out it is something they did not read, get it resolved. And now we have a bad mark (more work) to eventually clean up. They rarely come back as say, my mistake please remove this thread. If we fix them and remove it we are accused of editing or trying to "cover up" something.

But again, up to the marketing guys, nothing us forum/tech guys can add to the main site, we can only change the forum and we are limited to what that is.

Sometimes these are good and other times they are bad. As mentioned, I am sure it would require more work driving up cost. Often times I read reviews but only when I know what I am looking for and I can tell when someone actually knows what they are talking about. The rating system, I would not add without adding the review system and I would require a review to add a rating. Honestly I am not sure that I would add it at all during this time.

Ratings and reviews are great for a $40 breadmaker or $200 weedeater, but I would hope that prospective buyers would dig a bit deeper when shopping for a $1-2K welder. There is plenty of info to be had, both positive and negative, on many different forums to help someone make an informed decision, just requires a bit of digging.
Penncrest Buzzbox - Infinite amp control! Man the 70's were good.
Everlast Powerplasma 60 - Reliable unit, cuts well.
Everlast i-MIG 250P w/spoolgun - Really smooth, plenty of cajones.
Everlast 250EXT - Sometimes it just takes a kick in the balls...
Everlast 255EXT - Just started playing

You know what they could do is put say "To find product reviews click this link:" and have the link take you to the Customer Testimonials page...Then Everlast could make categories in the Customer Testimonials for each of their products or just a category for the general product:

    Plasma Cutters

    Mig Welders

    Tig Welders

Stick Welders etc...Then of course customers would have the specific product name in those categories.

Also note, a number of people that buy our units have never used a welder, they bought on price and new adventure. I would discard that one, but how would I know? Some people can talk up a convincing story, truest me, we hear them all the time. Mark, Ray and I joked for some time about how most people have been welding for 30 years and it is the unit. That 30 year number was very common and a lot of the people sounded like they were in there 20's.

I think the better idea, and some work here and break customer testimonials into Plasma, MIG, TIG, Stick and people can hit testimonials like they do now and it is a little better organized.

I will see what I can do.

Haha nice. Yeah that would be cool... You could make a generalized category for accessories too.

Another thing to think about is that if people come across Everlast and don't find customer ratings and reviews, they will go elsewhere to find reviews which may be more likely to have false reviews...

Of course they may go elsewhere anyway.
