The Hobart I have has a variable speed, no detents, it will adjust finely. The power output on the other hand has 4 detents. Granted, they're fine for most jobs, and were I not so rusty it'd probably just be some minor playing to compensate for the power with the speed, but I still think it'd be nice to have both controls infinitely adjustable instead of having detents and only 4 options. I should have been clearer and stated I was talking about the Hobart. I brought it up because the other low cost, low power MIG units I looked at had the same 'handful of settings' rather than the infinitely variable style on the large units.

Right, but the larger Hobart, Lincoln, Miller, etc. seem to have variable, but their smallest machines tend to not. At least a couple years ago when I was shopping. I was hoping that if Everlast put out a 125, a small one, it would maintain the variable/variable format, it's a shame no one else wanted to...

Ive been looking at the northern 125 flux core. It only has 2 amp ajustments. But really I only need a mig for tacking and small welds or something so i think the 2 amp ajustments will be fine. Everything else i can arc. Just mainly want it for tacking so if im holding stuff in place just close my eyes and pull the trigger. Much easyier than having a big bulkey helmit on and then trying to keep them perfect while striking your arc.
