Project 2 from I_Love_Plasma ~ Custom Mulch Bucket

This is project 2. Well to be able to load mini pickups and crew cab trucks with those short and shorter boxes a 72" Deere bucket just doesn't cut the mustard! You end up with about 2/3 of your bucket in the truck, the other 1/3 in your beautiful driveway rock.

What's the solution!? A custom made bucket!
Your normal 72" bucket holds roughly 3/4 of a yard of mulch leveled in the bucket. This custom made mulch bucket is easier to crunch numbers, whereas you just barely heap the load and it's one cubic yard.


We cut out the quick attach plate. And welded this bucket up. We had the two sides and bottom sheared at our local steel shop. All the metal is standard A-36 rolled.

Picture of "cutter bar", "wear bar", or "cutting edge". We plasma cut the bevel on the bar. (SuperCut 50, never hit the duty cycle. Was running full 50 amps for about 15 minutes, the temperature was around 55-60 degrees inside so it was running cold).
