If you start or contribute to a thread and people respond, you can watch traffic on that post using the "Today's Posts" link (upper left hand corner of the screen, under the Home link). If you're logged into the forum the link will be called "New Posts", but they don't always show the same thing. Today's Posts shows activity from the last 24 hours; New Posts shows activity since you last logged in. You can find posts you started by searching on your username in the Advanced Search function's User Name search. You can find posts you contributed to by searching on your username in the Advance Search Keyword box.

If someone PMs you, you have to be logged in to receive it, and when you log in you'll get a popup window if there's a message waiting. You can also click the Notifications link (upper right corner of the screen).

At the top right of the screen click settings, then on the left of the settings screen click general settings and change "Default Thread Subscription Mode:" to whatever you prefer.
