Thread: Hello From Maryland

    Default Hello From Maryland

My name is Wayne. I have been burning wire for over 30 years as a hobbyist and a bit in my professional life back when I was a machinist and fabricator. I have had the pleasure of using some nice equipment over the years and I currently have a small Lincoln plasma (not a bad little machine for sheet metal but lacks the power for any thing over 1/8) and a Hobart BetaMig 200 (over 25 years old so I will be looking to replace it soon). I do a lot of car related fabrication and general repair work so I have a 250EX Tig on order from Everlast. I am excited to get it and after reading so many differing views I will post my thoughts on the machine when I have put some time on it. I know a lot of people have brand loyalty and in many cases it is justified but some times we can be blinded by what we perceive as a good thing. I almost purchased a Miller Syncrowave 200 Runner Package but the cost was much higher and did not have the water cooled torch or duty cycle advertised on the Everlast. I will get a nice cart so it will be easy to move around the shop. I am currently building a Factory Five Cobra Replica with a 430 hp small block and a retro mod 1955 Thunderbird. I also have a 69 Dart with a 5.7 Hemi on the stand waiting to be dropped in. I hope I have found a good company to deal with and their products match their claims. So far their service and sales team have answered all of my questions promptly so as soon as I get the big box I will fire the stick up to weld a set of pallet forks for my loader and see what it does on the high current side then start to tig some mild steel sheet metal on the Tbird.
    Take care,
    Wayne

    Thanks Mark,
I look forward to getting the new equipment. I could have used it this past weekend. I had to use the old BetaMig 200 to spot weld some thin sheet metal on a 1955 Thunderbird I'm building. The Tig is so much better for things like that.
