Wall art , first real tig project.

Here are a couple of shots of my first metal scroll art project.
It is for the new sun room My wife wanted one and I said I can do that why buy one.
It was a fun project and allowed me to buy a scroll attachment for the HF compact bender, earn a few brownie points and tell my wife "see honey all those tools and machines really are for the both of us." Pretty good investment I think.

I used my Everlast 250 ex set to 185 or so amps 3/32, 2% thoriated. tungsten,
for the fusion welds. I only had to re-grind the tungsten a few time during the project, now for me that's real progress and a point of pride

Looks pretty cool. Hopefully your wife likes it and will allow you to buy more toys :-)

How did you bend the strips of metal?.. they look so uniform.

My 250EX TIG didn't come with any voltage control facility what so ever.

Joking aside, where did you get the 18.5 volts from?

I used a scroll attachment for my Harbor freight compact rod bender. I had the bender and the scroll attachment was $39 with coupon.

Um this what happens when you breath welding fumes all day, oor it could be I am just old lol
I gave the mig voltage setting I used for attaching the "M" to the scroll work.

My wife loves it and asked if I could make candle holders to match. I said sure bit I will need to get a ring roller for the project. If you need it get it she said.
I think I may have hit upon a plan for future purchases lol. What can I make for her that would require a stomp shear?

Well it might be a bit too utilitarian, but a set of metal shelves ought to get you a box-and-pan brake as well.

Great stuff but its my guess they are not priced for the hobbyist. I am more interested in motorsports fabrication then ornamental iron work but want to be able to perform as many metalworking disciplines as possible. Like most on here I just love to make things

Well I scored so many brownie points with the wall art I figured Id go for broke and made a set of candle holders to match. Man It worked, I just need to figure out what I want to do with them, the points not the candle holders.
