Adapting TIG torches

OK, in case you didn't know already, I need a TIG torch for my super 200p. I would like to get one of the everlast wp-26's but I am not sure what the difference is between the 7 and 2 pin set up. What would I need to do to make one of these newer torches work on my older machine? I only want a wp-26, don't really care if a newer 17 will work, I want a 26Coop

The 2 pin just handles the switch on the torch for on/off.
the 7 pin has the connections to the foot pedal for adjusting the amps plus the on/off.
You will need to buy a 7 pin connector to put on your new torch.

I think that one is the correct one or buy on from everlast.

Coop - whenever you are using the footpedal, you won't have the torch switch plugged in at all. You will only need to plug the torch switch plug in for those "out of position" welding scenarios where using the footpedal just doesn't work.

If you bought a WP26 with the 2 pin connector, you could easily convert it to the 7-pin needed to use the torch switch on the Super200P, by just cutting the 7-pin connector off your old WP17 torch and splicing it onto your new torch.

You should be aware that the torches for the newer (IGBT-based) everlast machines use a different style of 7-pin connector than are used on the earlier style mosfet machines (such as your Super200P.)

The earlier style mosfet machines also use an M16x1.5mm threaded inert arc fitting that is also not used on the newer IGBT-based machines.

I was kind of hoping to get a response from an everlast tech on This one. Is it possible to adapt one of the new everlast supplied wp-26's to my 200p and if so, what exactly do I need to do it? Kind of wondering if they don't want to mess with the older machine questions.

I mean no disrespect jake, I have plenty of experience welding with the foot pedal. I have been welding for a while now, just never used a chinese machine before this set up and I was hoping to get everlast on board to offer a little more support for us fellers who have the older machines. I am sure there are way more people out there who have the super 160, 200 205, 250, 305 whatever who would really appreciate this information. As soon as more find out about this awesome forum I am sure there will be plenty more brain twisters about the older machines. Kind of the reason I was thinking they should ask you to represent for the older machines. You have technical experience as far as the electronics go and have already troubleshot alot of quirks with the 200p.

I am also willing to bet that these guys have some of the older machines still and have access to all the necessary hardware to mock it up and maybe offer it as a sticky thread as a torch upgrade for the older machines...... Just a thought.
