Thread: argon regulator

  1. Default argon regulator

...haven't been doing much with my welder recently (powerpro 256). when I turned on the argon there was an audible leak.

at first I thought it was the threads at the gauge so I reapplied the teflon tape. When I tried that it still leaked.

The whole body of the regulator is cracked. A hairline crack from the gauge to the discharge valve. Scary to think it could have blown off right in my face.

The unit is around a year and a half old and never seen much use. Never dropped or abused.

The warranty is only six months on everything except the welder. My pressure guage failed the second time I opened the valve... Just buy a better quality one and keep welding.

thanks for the post and link. I didn't realize that there were that many cases of this issue. I hope none have blown apart and injured anyone.

Indeed; I feel the same way, and I hope everyone is OK. This is not an isolated occurrence:

    Sounds like a serious liability.

arc-zone has a nice ball flow meter for $43(+ship?).
