What do you do with the painted end of your tungsten electrodes ?
Since I only use 2% lanthanated, I clean the paint off and sharpen that end too.

clening the paint off is too much work for me, I just keep using the same end and sharpening it till its to short to use.
The devil made me say that!! thank Flip Willson for that
( I know it smarter to sharpen both ends so you can just swap ends when you need to )
I too only use Lanthanated!
have fun

ya sharpening both ends works the best. then when u get it dirty and your in the middle of a weld, just flip it around and keep going.

I sharpen both ends to a different angle, a little sharper than a pencil for about 140 amps or less DC. and do the other end a little blunter than a pencil for AC ( using an inverter ) or heavier DC, just flip it the right way for the material. I still like thoriated.

Also, I sharpen the whole pile of electrodes at the same time, seems a lot more efficient.

I usually cut two in half and sharpen all eight ends.
