Thread: CK 130 Torch W/25' Superflex Lead on my PP256

Default CK 130 Torch W/25' Superflex Lead on my PP256

I wanted a small light gas cooled torch for the PP256 that uses 9/20 size consumables with a lead that I wouldn't have to fight while welding. And here it is...

130 amp at 100% duty cycle and a 25' lead that's as limp as cooked spaghetti.

1 x CK Worlwide 150 Amp Large Dinse Connector (CK-SL2-35)
    1 x 130Amp Flex Head Torch Pkg W/ 25' 1 Piece SuperFlex Cable (CK1325HSF FX)
I trimmed the 6 foot black gas hose (comes with the dinse) to 18 inches and pushed an everlast male quick coupling into it and added a piece of heat shrink
    . Thats all.
This same setup should work on the 250EX and 200DX.

That looks very nice for doing anything thin/light... especially stainless steel sheetmetal. (I'd recommend a #7-#8 cup on it for that.)

I have a CK "trimline" 200 amp 100% duty cycle aircooled torch I use for everything, with the one piece superflex hose, flex neck, and it's great. It's like your torch's older brother.

Just about any switch will work or you can use the pedal as a switch

The black 18" gas hose came off a different torch?

The black hose was 6 feet long and comes with the dinse connector. I cut it back to 18 inches and pushed the brass male quick coupling into it (from my oem 26 that I'll never use) and added a piece of heatshrink.
I have parts for a super low profile swith of my own design, coming from china this week.

You could make one in two weeks. (not to rub it in..)
I keep going back and forth on the 1 hose or 2 hose thing, one would have to be a lot nicer I'm thinking. Haven't had much time to use it tho, so I don't exactly need to rush the decision..

Yeah, you got the 1 hose with the adapter, the one that came with my unit has two all the way to the torch, gas and power. I would think 1 must be slightly easier to maneuver. Arc-Zone is closed for a few days anyway.

I also have a wp-9f... the difference between it and the ck superflex lead is night and day for flexibility. There's a big difference in the torches also... the wp-9f is rated at 125amp DC @60% duty cycle/80amp AC @60% duty cycle. The CK 130 is rated at 130amp AC or DC @100% duty cycle and only costs a few dollars more.

    Default Torch Switch Added

I've added a small switch and lead cover to the CK130...
The switch is 1/2" square 5mm button, tactile momentary - costs about 15 cent and has the perfect click feel for me. http://www.sourcingmap.com/5mm-push-...-p-168159.html
The wire is two conductor 22ga with round insulation, costs 25 cent per foot.... purchased locally.
The cover is very tough but soft, 1/2" high density nylon weave and cost 80 cent per foot http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=26738
The torch handle can rotate to clock the switch to any position. Flexability was not affected, it's still as limp as cooked spaghetti.

I'm waiting on some consumables, but I just got the same setup for my 200DX. It looks to be a huge improvement in the handling of the torch. Much easier to use in roll cage construction I hope.
