Thread: Projest #1 Cub cadet Backhoe loader

Default Projest #1 Cub cadet Backhoe loader

Here is a cub cadet 1250 that I added a backhoe and a loader to. This project took me about 3 years to complete mainly due to time and money. All the hydraulics were purchased new. Every pivot point has a grease fitting. I also added power steering as well. Total cost of the build was around $4,000. I made 3 different size buckets for the backhoe. I have a 7", 12" and a 16". This machine will dig 5 feet deep. Overall I'm very happy with it. It has been very handy.

Please add build pictures for this to count. We are interested in seeing the process and details...Posts like this can't count until we see more detail, and documentation.

This pictrues shows the hydraulic tank and shows how I mounted the pump to the front of the motor. I wanted everything to fit under the hood when it was finished.

Thanks, we're getting closer to what we need. In order to not inflate post counts, try to use the same post to post as many pictures (up to 5 I think) as possible...Don't continue to post individual pictures. Include as much information as possible in each post...Also detail dimensions or any special challenges. This will help others out too. The contest has a point to inform, educate, and serve as an idea reservoir for other people. Helping them along by giving details of construction is part of it.

Here is some pictures on how I did the power steering. I had to add a mount to the frame and modify the original steering bracket.

Here we have some pictures right after everything was sanblasted and painted. One of the biggest challages with this project was to get everything to fit on this tractor and to keep it looking as factory as possable. For example I had to move the motor back 1 3/8" in order to get the hydraulic pump to fit without butchering up the hood bracket. Another challage was getting the power steering to fit and look factory. That was my whole goal with this project was to make a fully functional loader backhoe and have it look like it came from the factory.

    Nice looking workmanship.

How well does the pump keep up while you are digging? How big is that FEL bucket? It looks quite monstrous compared to the tractor!

Great work. Did you have another tractor sitting nearby to look at or did you do everything from scratch?
What size engine is on it?
It does seem like a fairly light chassis to have all of that on it. Does it dig / lift OK without walking around too much?

Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.

looks nice. Are you going to put teeth on the hoe bucket? What kind of reach and depth are you getting?

The Bucket is 42" wide and 16" tall. The hoe can dig 5 feet deep and can reach about 8 feet. The engine is a 12 hp kohler and the hydraulic pump puts out 8 gpm at 3,000 psi. I have this regulated back to 1,800 psi. I have added teeth to the backhoe bucket. The pump has no trouble keeping up with the hoe when it is digging.

I built a little hoe once but it was not near that nice. Very nice work.
