    Default PP 205 won't cut

The second time I've used my plasma and it won't cut. It starts the flame but every time I try to cut it goes out. As soon as I come close to the metal it stops, but in mid air it the flame is good. I put new consumables in the torch, checked the air pressure it is 60 while operating, checked the ground tried it on different amps.. Please help I need this to work!

Sure sounds like loose ground clamp problem, check connection inside machine.

The ground is tight, it stick and tig welds fine.

Change out your consumables, and check for tightness. How many amps are you using?

Check and change your consumables. Watch out for the swirl ring inside....Make sure you have it, and make sure it is seated properly. Readjust your air pressure down. Occasionally the air gauges won't read just right.

Set the amps to 38 with same 60lb air pressure this morning and it cut like a razor blade no problems. I did check everything and all were tight. Does it need to be right at 38 amps to cut right, I know the one at work I use can be set from 30 to 45 with same pressure and will cut. Anyhow I love my everlast pp 205 and I'm a welder who uses miller everyday. If I had the cash I'd buy all everlast products.

No, but air pressure will vary according to the amp out puts...No set gauge. Not all companies units work on the same air pressure curve. Had you changed your consumables?...Sometimes a bum consumable or a improperly made hole can cause a problem until it "wears in".

Yes I did put new consumables on it, but I did that yesterday when the problem was occurring. I've been cutting all day today and it seems to be working fine now. I talked to a guy yesterday at everlast my welder didn't come with any plasma consumables and was missing the bracket for the water trap, they sent me the bracket but I didn't know it was supposed to come with any plasma consumables. I did get the tig consumables with it, how do I get the missing consumables I bought some from the local welding shop but would like to have the ones that should have come with it.

Missing items is becoming a common thing, especially regulators.... what's up with that ? (they are replaced promptly when the company is notified)

Missing regulators are an issue with the MIG's...It has to do with how Oleg puts the order in... He adds them to them here when they arrive. Some guy in shipping is dropping the ball. Same thing with the EXT...currently, but I am working to resolve that issue with the factory, and hopefully end up with a better regulator.

Occasionally, in an emergency, a unit may be opened up to pull some consumables from a unit, if someone reports a pack missing, they are pulled from another, and you can see where someone forgets to put them back in when they have some more brought in...The kits are made at the factory, or at least the torch factory. IF we make up those kits, they won't be on those neat little cards...It's just easier to pull the carded ones and ship them if one is missing.
