Howdee everyone,
Just a lil bit bout me, I'm a Ford man all the way through n through. I have a custom 90 full size Bronco build going on that's really taking a long slow time to do. Over all goal is the installation of a 7.3 IDI turbo diesel and ZFsp, front Dana 60 w/locker rear stearling with locker yadda yadda yadda. read lots of time and patience and a fair amount of cash too
Wife has an 90 Mustang convertable, 2.3L 5sp all stock and simple, needs a new roof and some TLC and it's well on it's way to being a fine little summer cruiser. We have new roof vinyl but need a bit more to install it. Planning on a lil more HP, maybe a 2.3 from a turbo TBird tweaked a bit, thus keeping the light weight, with considerably more HP...maybe some suspension and I am going to get a Roll bar into it one way or another.
last Ford, 90 Ranger Ex Cab 4x4 2.9L 5sp all stock, rusty n trusty cost us 3
$375 for a beater that goes on n on and will keep going on n on....no serious mods planned yet
a Muscateer 6wh drive...(think Argo style rig) that is being rebuilt from ground up, almost done!
Worked in manufacturing and fiberglass for years and also heavy scrap processing and auto wrecking.
Involved with SAR locally and love outdoors and camping etc.
Just got my first shop, 20x20x12 ceiling, concrete floor, 16x7 door, 100amp service, that I rent along with the trailer I live at, shop 200 mo +power! Love it, I can fit my Bronco in or wife's car.
At this time the shop is quite equipped with hand tools, a gas powered Princess Auto stick welder from God only knows when...bout when Christ was a child by the looks of it, but it works very well. I also have a Beca mig, supposed to be setup with .023 solid and gas, but it's currently set with some flux core, and it works alright but no where near where what I need or want. Also have a basic oxy acet torch.
So been kinda looking and thinking about some new shop gear, primarily a nicer welder and or plasma cutter. Well that's where this place comes in, I have looked at the stick/tig units available at Princess Auto and though kewl, but there must be something better and nicer. So I started on ebay and came across 3 in 1's and wow, that's right about what I need, now I see a 4 in 1 stick, tig, AC/DC and plasma, and wonder, could a spool gun be connected for wire feed? Or a stand alone wire feed unit for large spools and just connect electrically as well as the gas.
So at this time I was originally thinking of a powerultra 205 but now I am leaning towards a Powerpro 256, quite a bit more than I had originally planned but it appears well worth the investment.
At this point, it's a tough choice, and I'll be reading lots before I make any decision. With the goals of building a few shop tools, hydraulic press,http://gizmoplans.com/hydraulic-shop-press-plans a tubing bender http://www.gottrikes.com/Tube_Bender.htm etc a good cutting machine and the ability to tig etc would be fantastic. Also with the plans for the Bronco and Mustang, it would be a great addition to my shop.
Anyway that bout sums up me, n what I am doing,
Happy fabbin everyone!
